The Use of Recycled Materials in Roadways

May 5 – 29, 2020 I Online Training

This online workshop will address the use of recycled materials in roadways. Recycling of roadway materials should always be considered when maintaining, rehabilitating or building new roadways. Some numerous techniques and standards are well-established, and each approach should be considered before selecting the most appropriate for a specific project.

There are many non-traditional waste or by-product materials that have found their way into use in roadways. Recycled Tire Rubber has a well-established role in asphalt paving. Plastic, Crushed Portland Cement Concrete, Contaminated Soils, Fly-Ash, Slag, Paper and many other industrial by-products and Post Consumer materials have found practical uses in paving.

This workshop aims to explain what works and why. The need to divert these materials from landfills or being dumped into the environment is of great importance to all of us. The lectures will be taught during four weeks with live two hour on-line sessions held on Tuesday, and Thursday of each week.
