“Climate is changing, so the way we manage roads needs to change as well.”
That’s the declarative title of the article Christopher Bennet and Theuns Henning wrote, which was published in The World Bank Transport Development Blog.
Seeing the continuing challenges of climate change on road infrastructure, Theuns Henning, Susan Tighe and Ian Greenwood, under the overall direction of Christopher R. Bennet, prepared the April 2017 technical report titled “Integrating Climate Change into Road Asset Management.“
Transport and ICT staff contributed and gave inputs: Shomik Mehndiratta, Fiona Collin, Simon Ellis, Vincent Vesin, Arnab Bandyopadhyay, Svetlana Vukanovic, Sara Sultan, and Christine Howard.
The report revisits asset management practices and strategies and presents climate change trends and their impact on road infrastructure management.
The chapter “Response to Climate Change” presents the possible activities that could be done before, during, and after climate change events, which are all integral to achieving infrastructure resilience.
