The climate is changing, and data collected over the recent decades shows that the current rate of change is happening more rapidly compared to in the past or before the Industrial Revolution.

The increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing a shift in weather patterns and sea levels to rise globally.

The shift in the weather pattern has varying effects on each region. Rising temperatures and increase in drought events will affect hot regions and shifts in climate, like higher-than-average temperatures, shorter winter, increase in precipitation can also cause costly damage to buildings and infrastructures in colder regions.

The study reviewed existing literature and journals on climate adaptation on buildings between November 2018 to January 2019, mapping out the subjects, research methods, and main findings on the subject as the basis for future research.

The study wanted to find out what is already known from literature about climate implication and adaptation measures for buildings and identify research gaps.

Findings from the study are comprehensive in terms of the data collected, and research gaps uncovered highlights what is currently missing in existing research.
